Good
news from the Hudson Opera House!
Dear Friend:
Last year more than 500 activities and events—all of them low
cost or free—took
place in and around this grand old building, and more than 29,000
people attended.
There were many memorable moments, including:
• The Snow Dragon, an enchanting holiday performance by Tall
Stories Theatre
from England, which delighted young and old alike on the Saturday
after
Thanksgiving.
• The riveting tale of a coveted antique gold coin, liberally
spiced with intrigue,
deception, and controversy—brought to us by David Tripp, author
of the NY Times
best-selling book Illegal Tender: Gold, Greed, and the Mystery of
the Lost 1933
Double Eagle.
• Life, love, and the quest for freedom expressed in a concert
of original folk songs
and traditional African-American music by Kim and Reggie Harris, who
also
performed a special educational concert about the Underground Railroad
at a
local middle school.
• Fifteen thousand visitors surging through downtown Hudson
during the preholiday
Winter Walk on Warren Street—along with the musicians, dancers,
jesters,
clowns, stilt walkers, reindeer, Victorian carolers, giant street
puppets, and horsedrawn carriages that make the evening magical.
This year, we’ve got to keep all the programs rolling, keep
them low-cost or free, and
at the same time replace the Opera House roof.
In the next few years, we’ll restore the upstairs auditorium
and continue to expand our diverse cultural and educational offerings.
Because so much of what we offer is free, the only way we can make
all this happen is with donations and memberships—from friends
like you.
Please join us as a new member!
Hope to see you soon at a Hudson Opera House event,
Most sincerely,

Gary Schiro
