Let It Be in Sight of TheeHudson River Photography by Carolyn Marks Blackwood On Exhibition through August 15 Gallery Talk with the Artist Saturday, August 15, 2:00 p.m. Carolyn Marks Blackwood has spent many hours on the river, on patrol with Riverkeeper and also aboard the Coast Guard icebreaker Penobscot Bay. At HOH Carolyn exhibits the series of photographs drawn from her exploration of the Hudson River. The exhibition is presented as part of the Hudson Quadricentennial Celebration.
Clemens KalischerPhotography Exhibition August 22 through September 26 HOH presents a solo exhibition by photograher and photojournalist Clemens Kalischer. Over the past six decades, Clemens built a body of work notable for its high quality and open-armed embrace of the varied human condition. The exhibition will also feature recent works. An opening reception with the artist will be on Saturday, August 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. |
Just So StoriesCastle Hill Theatre Company Saturday July 18 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. HOH presents Castle Hill Theater Company and Rudyard Kipling’s classic Just So Stories, including how the elephant got his trunk, the leopard his spots and how the first letter was written. The show features live African drumming and giant puppets. Perfect for all ages! $7 children, $9 adults. Family rate: $25.
Spencer Dayat The Hudson Waterfront Park Friday August 21, 7:00 p.m. Spencer Day, a uniquely American singer/songwriter, returns to Hudson along with his ensemble to promote the release of his new album, Vagabond. The new album is being released by West Coast’s premiere jazz label, Concord Records. With a blend of jazz, pop, soul and folk, his smooth baritone voice interprets his original compositions with compassion and a touch of humor. Day’s work reveals the influences of such diverse composers as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Joni Mitchell, Carol King, John Lennon and Paul Simon. Spencer has appeared on national television and performed at venues including Joe’s Pub and at Tanglewood Jazz Festival. The performance is co-presented with the City of Hudson and is free and open to the public. The performance will be held at the Hudson Waterfront Park (rain location is Hudson Opera House). |

The series of workshops will be held throughout August with artist Bruno Pasquier-Desvignes. All work is crafted from found materials including newspapers, cardboard, plastic bottles, grocery bags, fabric, corks, wire and more! Free.
Painting Studio: with Yura AdamsWednesdays, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m., July 8 through August 12 This course teaches an integrated blend of traditional and contemporary practices in painting the human body. Working from a live model and photographs, the course will explore different ways to use the figure in painting: in studio, abstracted, and in narrative. Open to beginning experienced painters. Oil, acrylic or water soluble oil paints can be used in class. $20 per workshop for six sessions, $16 per workshop for HOH members. Registration required. |

The Hudson Opera House offers a year-round schedule of arts and cultural programming in in the 1855 former Hudson City Hall which contains New York State's oldest surviving theatre.
Since opening the first restored room in December of 1997, five rooms on the first floor have been rehabilitated, and we have presented thousands of cultural and educational programs, more than 850 in the last year alone. The Hudson Opera House provides free or low-cost cultural offerings every week of the year.
Ongoing programs include concerts, readings, lectures, exhibitions, theatre and dance presentations, after-school programs, workshops, classes, and community arts events like the annual Winter Walk on Warren Street.
